At the half-marathon for humanoid robots held in Beijing, "Walker II" secured third place and was the only robot to complete the race without needing a battery change. This robot boasts an impressive six-hour endurance thanks to tendon bionic drive technology, which enables lightweight design and sustained stable operation—breaking through limitations traditionally imposed by battery energy density and motor power density.
Professor Li Qingdu and his team developed "Walker I" and “Walker II” in 2021; the latter weighs only 28 kilograms, a reduction of 40% compared to similar robots while maintaining equivalent energy density and motor power. Utilizing cross-modal transfer learning technology, the robot exhibits natural human-like gait and expressive facial animations.
Looking ahead, the team plans to combine humanoid robotics with expression recognition technologies to create robotic model teams; they will also continue iterating on "Walker III" for applications in home companionship and domestic service. Shanghai Zhuoyide Technology Co., Ltd. has completed a Series A funding round of 10 million yuan and received strong support through technology achievement empowerment reform.
