Following the February launch, demand slowed considerably; analysts revised initial sales forecasts from between 700k to 800k units in the first year down to an estimated 300k-400k units due to slow uptake.
According to Mark Gurman鈥檚 latest Power On newsletter for Bloomberg Intelligence, Apple is reevaluating its Vision Pro strategy following disappointing sales figures. Initially planning a minor hardware upgrade, the company has now opted instead for a dual-product line approach鈥攁 suggestion previously made by Gurman in his report.
The more accessible version will target general consumers and be designed to be affordable and lightweight. A high-end model is also planned that can connect directly with Mac computers via cable, reducing latency while supporting both streaming content playback and professional applications such as medical image viewing or flight simulations.
Apple views the more accessible Vision Pro as a stepping stone toward developing AR smart glasses in the future. Gurman revealed that CEO Tim Cook鈥檚 focus is on creating an unobtrusive and lightweight device for everyday use, with aspirations to revolutionize technology similarly to how the iPhone did.
