China Announces Crew for Shenzhou-20 Mission

The press conference for the Shenzhou-20 manned flight mission took place today, April 23rd, at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The crew consists of Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui, and Wang Jie, with Chen Dong serving as commander. Chen Dong, a veteran astronaut, previously participated in the Shenzhou XI and XIV missions and will return to command after a two-year absence. Both Chen Zhongrui and Wang Jie, members of China鈥檚 third batch of astronauts, will embark on their first spaceflight. Prior to their selection, Chen Zhongrui served as an air force pilot, while Wang Jie worked as an engineer at the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation Space Technology Institute. Preparatory work for the mission is progressing smoothly, with preparations for the Long March II F carrier rocket nearing completion. The Shenzhou-20 astronaut crew is scheduled to begin their space duty on China's Space Day.
