Hon Hai Precision Industry, through its subsidiary Hon Yuan International Investment, has acquired a 100% stake in Sharp Fukuyama Laser Co., Ltd. for approximately ¥1.55 billion (NT$3.56 billion) to expand its business operations. This transaction supports Sharp’s strategic shift towards a brand-focused company by divesting non-core assets and concentrating resources on its core brands. The acquisition follows discussions between Hon Hai and Sharp regarding the potential transfer of Sharp’s semiconductor and laser businesses, with Hon Hai previously identified as a potential acquirer.
