Foxconn to Produce Apple AirPods at Indian Factory Starting in April

Amidst escalating trade tensions, with US President Donald Trump announcing reciprocal tariffs effective April 2nd, reports indicate that Foxconn's Hyderabad factory in India will begin manufacturing Apple’s AirPod earbuds starting this month.
According to PTI, sources confirm the commencement of AirPods production at Foxconn’s plant in Hyderabad beginning in April, marking the second product manufactured by Apple in India after iPhones. The Economic Times reported that Foxconn invested approximately $400 million (NT$13 billion) in constructing the factory in 2023.
Rumors suggest these Indian-made AirPods will be exported to markets including the US and Europe. Data from the Indian Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) reveals a 20% tariff on imported wearable devices, such as earbuds; ICEA believes local production could provide an advantage if retaliatory tariffs imposed by the United States are avoided.
