Recent reports indicate that Huawei intends to commence large-scale shipments of its Ascend 910C AI chip to Chinese customers as early as next month, with initial deliveries already initiated. This development follows recent U.S. announcements mandating indefinite license applications for the export of AI chips to China, effective April 2025. The Ascend 910C utilizes a chiplet dual-chip packaging design and incorporates second-generation 7nm (N+2) technology, integrating over 53 billion transistors. While not currently the most powerful AI chip on the market, its inferencing performance reaches approximately 60% of NVIDIA鈥檚 H100, substantially decreasing China鈥檚 dependence on NVIDIA GPUs. Although Huawei has not officially confirmed these reports, industry sources anticipate that the Ascend 910C could become the preferred hardware for Chinese AI model development and deployment.
