According to IDC's latest report, Apple experienced a 9% year-over-year decline in shipment volume within the Chinese market during the first quarter—the only major manufacturer facing such a decrease.

Apple’s shipments fell by 9%, reaching approximately nine million units and resulting in a drop from 17.4% to 13.7% of the overall market share. This marks Apple's seventh consecutive quarterly decline in China. In contrast, Xiaomi, currently leading the Chinese smartphone market, saw an increase of roughly forty percent this quarter, shipping around thirteen-and-a-half million devices.

Will Wong (黃文忠), IDC’s Senior Research Manager for Client Devices in Asia Pacific, attributed the uncertainty to ongoing US-China relations and noted that Apple's premium pricing strategy may prevent it from capitalizing on China’s recent smartphone subsidy policy. The Chinese government recently introduced subsidies aimed at smartphones and other consumer products; devices priced below 6000 RMB (approximately $925 USD) are eligible for a fifteen percent discount on the sale price.
