Lucy Guo, born in 1994, is poised to become the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire, surpassing Taylor Swift, according to Forbes. Despite departing from Scale AI years ago, the 30-year-old founder’s company shares have propelled her to this financial milestone. Forbes reports that Scale AI is nearing completion of a share acquisition offer, valuing the nine-year-old private company at $25 billion and positioning Guo to replace Taylor Swift, who achieved billionaire status in late 2023 at age 35.

Born in the San Francisco Bay Area to Chinese immigrant parents, both of whom are electronic engineers, Guo demonstrated an early aptitude for technology through programming. She left Carnegie Mellon University before graduating to participate in the Thiel Fellowship program for promising young entrepreneurs. In 2015, she joined Quora as a product designer, where she met Alexandr Wang, the co-founder of Scale AI, in 2016. Scale AI provides data labeling services for the artificial intelligence industry. Disagreements later led to Wang’s decision to terminate Guo’s employment at Scale AI; however, she retained approximately 5% of the company’s shares. With the anticipated share transfer transaction expected in June 2025, the value of her stake has risen to roughly $1.2 billion, making her one of only six self-made female billionaires under 40 globally and the sole woman to achieve this status through shares acquired after leaving a founding role.
