Addressing the challenge of online fraud demands collaborative efforts from both the public and private sectors. On May 25th, Google announced a strategic partnership with Taiwan's Ministry of Digital Development to bolster defenses against fraudulent threats. The initial phase of this cooperation, spanning one year, will focus on information sharing, the development of innovative solutions, and enhanced user awareness through educational programs.

Starting in 2024, Google will host the 'Asia-Pacific Cybersecurity Forum' to facilitate information exchange and discussions on solutions among regional partners. The second forum is scheduled for 2025 in Taiwan, coinciding with the unveiling of four new initiatives:

1. A strategic partnership with the Ministry of Digital Development, focusing on sharing fraud trends, promoting international cooperation, developing detection and prevention solutions, and implementing local awareness programs.
2. Google.org, the company鈥檚 philanthropic arm, will provide $5 million to support non-profit organizations combating fraud across the Asia-Pacific region, including Taiwan.
3. Creation of a Global Signal Exchange (GSE) platform in collaboration with the Global Anti-Scam Alliance, enabling real-time sharing of scam-related signals among participating organizations for faster identification and disruption of fraudulent activities.
4. Expansion of the ShieldUp! anti-fraud product, initially developed in India, into additional markets including Taiwan, Australia, Singapore, and Thailand. This product utilizes a game-based learning method to effectively enhance user ability to identify fraud and build digital resilience.

Google鈥檚 2024 Ad Safety Report underscores that artificial intelligence is not only improving Google鈥檚 response to harmful advertisements but also strengthening its ability to prevent scammers from entering the Google ecosystem. The report details the removal of over 5.1 billion advertisements, restrictions placed on an additional 9.1 billion, and the suspension of over 39 million ad accounts in 2024.
