Halal Duck Shop Owner's Refusal to Sell Spoiled Ducks May Have Prevented Ceiling Collapse
Recently, a short video posted by an account named 'Halal Flavor Duck Boss' on a social media platform sparked widespread attention and controversy. The video depicted an employee discovering spoiled duck meat while packing orders; he promptly replaced it with fresh product before narrowly escaping injury when the ceiling above his previous position collapsed—an event many initially hailed as a remarkable example of good deeds being rewarded.

However, numerous online users questioned the authenticity of the scene, meticulously analyzing each frame and identifying several inconsistencies that suggested staging. Subsequently, the account deleted all its previously posted videos. On April 20th, Beijing Youth Daily reporters discovered that the “Halal Flavor Duck Boss”’s account had been restricted from new followers; private messaging was also temporarily disabled due to violations of community guidelines.

On April 22nd, Douyin Blackboard issued a statement addressing the controversy surrounding the alleged staged scene. The full statement reads: Following widespread online sharing and popularity on April 17th for the video 'Halal Duck Shop Owner Refuses Spoiled Ducks and Avoids Ceiling Collapse,' several netizens reported potential signs of staging in both scenes depicted within it.

These concerns included suspicions that the pot contained no duck meat, as well as a seemingly pristine piece of paper bearing the character “卤” (halal) despite purportedly being present for over a month. Many users further suggested that this halal duck shop might not be an actual business but rather a staged production. The platform subsequently conducted verification and found:

1)Upon contacting the account holder, they initially claimed to own the halal duck store and asserted that videos were recorded by surveillance cameras; however, customers featured in the video were revealed to be his colleagues. He later admitted unfamiliarity with community rules regarding content labeling but stated he posted primarily for online visibility and now intends to cancel the account. When pressed about providing business license documentation or details on the ceiling condition of their shop, they declined to provide proof materials, stating that the store was borrowed from a friend.

2)A review of previous videos posted by this user revealed numerous staged scenes within stores—all voluntarily labeled with “fictional performance” at the time of posting; contradicting his earlier claim of lacking awareness regarding labeling requirements.

Considering both video content and information provided, the platform removed the original viral video on April 18th evening. Simultaneously, they banned the account from commenting for thirty days, restricted profit-making rights for sixty days, prohibited new followers during this period, and removed existing followers gained through rule violations. The platform stated it will actively address any further developments in this case and welcomes user reports with additional information.
