IRIS Optronics participated in Touch Taiwan 2025 to showcase its latest technologies and solutions specializing in cholesterol liquid crystal (ChLCD) technology. The company is continually advancing ChLCD, enhancing display performance through ultra-wide color gamut techniques that improve panel reflectivity and contrast for better visibility under both strong light and indoor conditions while reducing energy consumption.
At this year’s Touch Taiwan exhibition, IRIS Optronics unveiled several innovative integrated technologies including ‘Ming Display 2.0,’ the world's first technology to combine ChLCD with commercial LCD panels, enabling both e-paper power-saving mode and animated playback functions. Another innovation is “InfinityDisplay,” an embedded solar-powered full-color zero-power display that integrates ChLCD with a commercially available photovoltaic panel for energy recovery from non-visible light wavelengths.
Furthermore, IRIS Optronics has integrated its cholesterol liquid crystal technology with infrared camera (IR Camera) to discreetly monitor patients' behavior remotely by embedding micro-lenses within the display panels—a design intended to minimize discomfort. The company also demonstrated large-scale modular assembly techniques specifically designed for outdoor operation across a wide temperature range, targeting smart city applications such as public advertising displays.
In collaboration with partners including Taichung Veterans General Hospital and Apacer Technology, IRIS Optronics showcased immersive application scenarios of cholesterol liquid crystal full-color e-paper technology in fields like intelligent education and healthcare. Chairman Liao Chih-Chang highlighted that the company’s 200 global patents reinforce its leadership position within this field.
