Google's new generation of the A series, the Pixel 9a, has started online pre-orders. It is confirmed that its release date for Taiwan will be April 16th.
Google announced sales would begin in phases starting from April 10th across various markets. Among these are Taiwan along with Australia, India, Singapore, and Malaysia as part of the third batch scheduled to go on sale on April 16th; however, Japan's release date remains undetermined for now.
The Pixel 9a was originally expected to be released earlier but Google delayed its launch due to quality checks on components that could potentially affect normal operation. With the official announcement of sales dates, Google issued a statement explaining: "There is an issue with one passive component in the Pixel 9a which did not meet our strict standards for device longevity; therefore we made the difficult choice to delay its release and take corrective measures." The company also clarified that rumors about delays were incorrect.
The new model features a 6.3-inch Actua screen, Tensor G4 chip, 8GB of memory, a 5100mAh battery with IP68 water resistance capabilities among other specifications. In Taiwan, it will be available in four colors: Obsidian Black, Ceramic White, Raspberry Pink and the new Iris Purple; all models come equipped with 128GB storage space priced at NT$16490 (approximately USD $573). Additionally, two color options鈥擮bsidian Black and Iris Purple鈥攁re also offered in a larger capacity of 256GB for those who need more storage. These versions are suggested to be sold at NT$19990 (around USD $684).
