Vivo Explores Household Robotics with Reported Lab Setup

It appears that an increasing number of manufacturers are now focusing on household robot technology. According to Chinese media reports, smartphone brand Vivo has established its own robotics laboratory aimed at product incubation and research related to robots. Initially, Vivo plans to concentrate specifically on developing household robots.
Statistics from China's QYResearch institute predict global sales of home service robotic products could reach RMB 109.5 billion by 2031 with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.2%. Data released last year in the third quarter by China鈥檚 National Bureau of Statistics shows that Chinese citizens spend an average daily time of one hour and fifty-nine minutes on household chores.
In modern times, people are seeking more comfortable lifestyles which often involves hoping to delegate some housework tasks to robots so as to gain additional leisure time for preferred activities.
Currently, when the term 'robot' is mentioned it usually refers to applications in industrial automation such as automated production lines and automobile manufacturing; supermarkets or restaurants may also introduce a few robotic systems. However, these are all commercial application scenarios of robots.
Nowadays more manufacturers have started noticing that household robot technology could potentially become the new blue ocean for future markets, possibly being one of the core growth areas for smart robotics.
