vivo Launches "Homegrown iPhone" with ¥3699 Price Tag
Last year, Vivo launched the X100 Ultra, its first two-hundred-megapixel telephoto model—a device that quickly became a leader in long-range photography. This success naturally sparked curiosity about potential upgrades for the upcoming X200 Ultra. Today, as scheduled, Vivo unveiled both a half-generation upgrade to the X200 (X200s) and its ultra-high-end variant, the vivo X200 Ultra, at their spring series launch event. Let's explore what these new models offer.

Vivo’s approach with the X200 Ultra stands out among this year’s high-specification imaging flagship phones. They recently held a separate event focusing on image technology communication—a precursor to today’s announcement—but there remains significant information to share.

First, let's consider the design: three color options are available – Silver Tone (with German-style texture), Red Circle (fine matte finish), and Black Ka (resembling Kevlar). While personal preference varies, a white model would likely appeal to those with a more understated style. The camera module is centrally positioned within a large circular design, retaining only the Zeiss T coating from previous models—the asymmetrical or poetic elements have been removed.

Significant changes are evident in both the ultra-wide angle and main cameras: while sensor size has decreased slightly from one inch to 1/1.28 inches, its native focal length now sits at a more user-friendly 35mm (previously it was a wider but often expansive 23mm). Vivo refers to this as their 'humanistic documentary lens.' Furthermore, the X200 Ultra’s ultra-wide angle sensor has been substantially upgraded compared to competitors.

The telephoto camera maintains its impressive two hundred megapixels and now supports macro photography. It also incorporates a new optical structure that increases aperture size from f/2.27 to f/2.3—a 38% increase in light intake under already optimal conditions, alongside improved stabilization capabilities.

Adding further versatility is an exclusive physical accessory for the telephoto lens: a 'long-range extender' which transforms it into a native 200mm focal length camera when paired with the existing 85mm setup. This new design features Zeiss branding and three groups of thirteen high-transparency glass lenses.

Software enhancements include numerous optimizations, such as full-focal-length human portrait capture mode, enhanced AI blur algorithms for low-light portraits, a second-generation 'humanistic camera,' and more creative color styles. The phone also supports 40W wireless charging and incorporates an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

The X200 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus processor and features a large 6000mAh battery with fast-charging capabilities reaching up to 90 watts, alongside advanced technologies like LTPO adaptive refresh rate and ultra-wideband connectivity.

Pricing starts at 4199 yuan (3699 after national subsidy) for the X200s variant, while premium configurations of the Ultra model begin from 6499 yuan.

In conclusion, Vivo’s latest flagship models present a compelling combination of hardware and software innovations that distinguish them within today's competitive smartphone market.
